Converting a camper van is not an easy task. It requires a lot of planning ahead of time and laying out every inch of your idea before starting. If you have the creative mind to suit, a DIY project may be perfect for what you need.

Taking your van up a level can be done through your own hard work and preparation. By spending some time researching floor plans, what works and what doesn’t work, you can decide on a conversion plan that suits you.

Resources such as Youtube and Pinterest are full of ideas that you can work off of. The internet is the best place to find inspiration and epic floor plans. From here, you can find the materials and machinery you need to put the plans into action.

Some great camper van resources are DoItYourselfRV and VanLifers. Both sites give how-to guides that will help with cleaning, updating, and renovating your van. These are some of the best resources when you’re looking to take on such an extensive process like a self-build van conversion.

After taking a look to see what others have tried, decide what route you want to take. Take the time to plan out your tiny home and incorporate everything you want. Even reach out on forums or chats to ask for advice from people who did the same thing. With a little bit of hard work, transforming your van on your own can be a rewarding process.

2. Learn From Experts – Pre-Made Conversion Plans

Camper van conversion companies take over from start to finish. They develop your floor plan, collect the materials, and build everything just as decided. Along the way, you get to give the thumbs up to make sure the van is just as you imagined.

For a slightly higher price than a complete DIY plan, you can make sure your van is renovated by professionals. Rather than worry about making an amateur mistake, working with a company ensures the conversion is smooth and ends with spectacular results.

DMVans, of Colorado, is a prime example of giving the hard work to the professionals. These experts build you a great van with everything you could possibly want. From workspaces to loft beds and rooftop seating, DMVans makes sure every customer gets impressive results. You can select custom designs and layouts that are to your liking. 1. Hi,
One resource for van converters that you did not mention are the forums for each of the major van makes. There are forums for FCA ProMaster, Ford Transit and Mercedes Sprinter vans. Each one has tons of data for DIY van converters and a raft of people who have done their own conversions and are very willing to help people get through the conversion process successfully. These forums are really the best resource for anyone thinking about doing a conversion.

There are so many paths you can go through to get to a van conversion that is right for you that it is really nice to have people who have been through the whole process to get advice from.
